Digital Presentation week has arrived. Throughout school and my time at UCD I have had my fair share of experience with presentations. I had become a pro at using powerpoint on Microsoft, it wasn’t until I got to college that I was introduced to other ways of presenting. This week we were shown the different softwares that are available to us when it comes to presentations.
Powerpoint:One of the more common ways to present information. Easy to navigate and use.
Keynote: Available for Macs from the app store. Easy to use and and in my opinion a more graphic/visual presentation.
Open Office: This is available to download from the internet for free.
Google Docs: Is an online service provided by Google. It allows to create, edit and share documents online. This is a very convienent service as it allows to start creating on one computer, say at college for example, and then you can still access it from home later.
Prezi: Prezi is a website that provides you with a unique way of presenting information. You can set up a free account or pay, which gives you extra feautures. Prezi was introduced to me when I got into college, I really liked it as it was very visual and was more interesting than the typical powerpoint I was used to. For this class we had to use Prezi to make our own presentation about any aspect of this module. I chose photography, here is a link to my presentation.
Other tools mentioned were websites such as Slideshare, Popcorn Maker and Screenr. All can be used to help make presentations or add media to it. In my opinion the more visual and interactive a presentation is the more interesting it is, so all these tools will be something I’ll be looking into for future presentations.
